WATER

Did you know that your body is made up of at least 75% water?  It is really important that you take in enough water daily or you will have health issues, one of the greatest being inflammation/stiffness in your joints. It also can be the reason why some of us are constipated. Water is the most common over-looked thing and SO beneficial to our body and its many functions.

We all should be drinking half our body weight in ounces. So if you weigh 100 pounds, you would need to drink 50 ounces of water per day.  And for every cup of coffee you consume---it depletes 2 cups of water from your system.  It is best to consume the biggest portion of water in the morning, tapering off towards evening.  So grab your favorite glass and figure out how many ounces it holds, and then you will know how many glasses to drink per day.  Beware tho, you can also drink too much, unless you are doing extreme physical work, in which you need to replace the extra you sweat out.  So be aware of the pace you need to set!  And a little lemon in the water not only makes it tastier, but helps to alkalize your body.

DIATOMACEOUS EARTH

Many of you know of this for use in your pool, for your garden or even for controlling fleas on your dog or for worming your animals.  FOOD GRADE DE has many more uses for us as well!  It is silica, another mineral our body is generally lacking. It really doesn't have a taste but should be consumed in a drink or liquid of some kind.  I found it doesn't taste very good in water tho.  I put it in my smoothie every morning.  Why???

Lowers bad cholesterol, fades age spots, higher energy, great for fighting inflammation in those joints as well as the intestines, helps repair & maintain lung function, helps with stress & menopause, helps normalize bowel movements, works on the lymphatic system, good for high blood pressure, helps the pancreas with diabetes, good for headaches and tinnitus, and so much more.  More about silica:    It is a cleanser and eliminator. Silica is a constituent of the hair, skin, nails and surfaces of the bones. It also acts in the manner of an insulator for the nerves. In cases of checked perspiration, Silica restores the activity of the skin, thereby aiding this important cleansing process. It is the bio-chemic remedy for offensive perspiration of the feet and arm-pits.

Normal usage is one to 2 Tablespoons in juice or a smoothie every day.  I even put it in soups and stews.
